- Love
- Couples
- Portraiture
- Belongings
These are all relevant ideas that can link easily to the brief but I felt that they were too obvious. I also thought that some were too cheesy and amateur, for example 'love'. It's a sub theme that I would have most definitely struggled with - so automatically that idea was scratched. I feel that they're all so plain and unimaginative, a bit 'wishy washy'.
However, from this I started on thinking about different questions I could ask myself in response to the brief. For example, In what ways could privacy be broken? What do people do in private? What do I do in private? What things do I like to remain private? How do people feel when they're privacy is broken? These led me to think of:
- Emotion
- Nudity/ Sexuality
- Habits
- Disturbing of peace/ Intrusion of privacy
- Self Portraiture
These are notions that I find myself being most interested in. The idea of walking in uninvited, disturbing someone and capturing the moment is fascinating to me. It becomes more real, with a snap shot ascetic that I find quite appealing. It can also evoke more of a response from the viewer if the photograph shows to be displaying a real moment. With this general idea, I would use my closest friends as my models, so that it can be a diary like reflection of my life. By doing this I am able to also include self portraits - or 'selfies' as we're calling them in todays society to make a clear connection that the people being shown are linked with the photographer. Also By using people closer to me, also reduces the risk of stepping over boundaries and ethical issues.
